Black Salt

Manufacturing and Exporting Of Black Salt Mumbai, India

Manufacturing and exporting black salt is a business venture that involves producing this unique type of salt and selling it to international markets by Tierra Overseas, Mumbai. Black salt, also known as Kala Namak is not a type of rock salt. It is commonly used in South Asian cuisine for its distinctive sulfuric and savory flavor. Here are the steps that we follow in manufacturing and exporting black salt:

Raw Material Procurement:

The primary raw material for black salt is special salt, which is typically obtained from Sambhar Lake.

  • Manufacturing: This salt is boiled in earthen pots for almost 8 hours after which it is left to cool down. Upon cooling down, these earthen pots are then broken and removed which leaves pot-shaped black salt. The outer layer of this pot-shaped black salt is then carefully removed and the inner core also known as the crystal is taken for further process.

  • Mixing with Herbs: To enhance the nutritional value, flavor, and aroma, black salt is often mixed with certain herbs or spices by Tierra Overseas Mumbai. The exact ingredients and proportions may vary depending on the recipe and regional preferences.

  • Grinding: The crystal is grind into a fine powder. At the primary stage, the color of the salt is greyish which gradually turns into distinctive light pink.

  • Packing: The powdered black salt is then packed into suitable containers, which could be PP woven bags with inner liners. The standard packings are 5 kg, 10 kg, 25 kg, and 50 kg, depending on the intended market and customer requirements. We ensure that the packaging is airtight to preserve the nutritional value, and flavor and to prevent moisture ingress.

  • Quality Control: At Tierra Overseas, we implement a robust quality control process to ensure that the black salt meets the required standards for flavor, color, and purity. This involves regular testing of products by our manufacturing unit in Vapi, India.

  • Export Logistics: At Tierra Overseas, we arrange transportation and logistics in India and export the black salt. This involves selecting shipping methods (air, sea, land), finding freight forwarders or shipping agents, and ensuring compliance with customs regulations.

  • Customer Support and Feedback: We provide excellent customer support to address inquiries and feedback from our international and domestic customers. This helps build trust and loyalty for our dear consumers.

  • Compliance and Regulations: We stay updated on international and domestic food safety and labeling regulations, as they can vary from one country to another. We ensure that our product complies with these regulations.

  • Scaling and Growth: At Tierra Overseas, we are considering expanding our product line, exploring new markets, and optimizing our production and distribution processes.

We understand that exporting food products, including black salt, can involve complex regulations and standards, so it’s essential to do thorough research and seek legal and regulatory advice to ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
